Gynecologic Endoscopy, Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy

Endoscopy is general term used for checking inside the body by a camera, and for application of treatment without a surgical intervention in the same session. Two basic endoscopy methods used in gynecological diseases are laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy may be applied for diagnostic and operative purposes.

In laparoscopy, an optic camera is inserted inside abdomen through an approximately 1 cm incision on belly, and intraabdominal organs (liver, spleen, bowels, peritoneum – serous membrane that forms the lining of abdominal cavity) and female genital system organs (uterus, Fallopian tubes, ovaries) are examined, and related diseases are diagnosed (myoma, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, intraabdominal adherences, abscess, etc.), and female genital system diseases are surgically treated with the help of tools inserted through 2 – 3 incisions of 3 – 5 mm on lower part of abdomen.

In hysteroscopy, an optic camera is inserted through cervix, and intrauterine pathologies are diagnosed / treated (intrauterine adhesions, polyp, myoma, septum, abnormal uterine bleedings, etc.)

Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic operations performed in our clinic:

  • Laparoscopic hysterectomy / salpingectomy / oophrectomy (removal of uterus, tube/tubes, ovary/ovaries)
  • Laparoscopy assisted vaginal hysterectomy (removal of uterus from vagina with the help of laparoscopy)
  • Laparoscopic myomectomy (removal of myoma)
  • Laparoscopic adhesiolysis (Surgical lysis of intraabdominal adhesions)
  • Laparoscopic endometriosis surgery
  • Laparoscopic ectopic pregnancy operation
  • Laparoscopic tube ligation
  • Hysteroscopic myoma resection
  • Hysteroscopic polyp extirpation
  • Hysteroscopic lysis of intrauterine adhesions (Asherman’s syndrome treatment)
  • Hysteroscopic septum (intrauterine septum) resection
  • Hysteroscopic endometrial ablation
