ERCP - Kolan British Hospital

In Kolan British Hospital Gastroenterology department, bile duct and pancreas diseases are diagnosed and treated by ERCP.

ERCP is an endoscopic technique applied to diagnose and treat bile duct and pancreas diseases by using a special endoscopy called duodenoscope.

In our Kolan British Hospital Gastroenterology department, bile duct stones are successfully treated non-surgically by ERCP within a short time.

Imaging is performed by a procedure where duodenoscope is introduced into the mouth, passed down to bile ducts and, if necessary, pancreatic duct through bile duct entrance to intestines. During ERCP procedure, therapeutic operations can also be performed such as clearance of stones in bile ducts, stent (plastic or metal catheter) placement for relief of obstructions, or conducting a biopsy.

Bile flow is provided through a tube called stent to patients with no chance of operation or in inoperable conditions. This procedure prevents the dysfunction of organs such as liver and kidney due to obstruction-induced jaundice.

Our aim is to enable patients with bile duct stones and other bile duct diseases regain their health as soon as possible with diagnosis and treatment services provided by our gastroenterology and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery team.

ERCP Indications

  • Choledochal stones
  • Odd’s sphincter function disorders
