Facial Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty, Otoplasty, Blepheroplasty performed by ophthalmologists, and Botox applications)

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is an operation performed to reshape and restructure nose. Purpose is to make the nose better both functionally and aesthetically. Furthermore, in the case of bone curvatures (deviations) at the middle of nose preventing breathing, they are also corrected by rhinoplasty operation.

The purpose of nose aesthetics is to make the most appropriate and fit nose for your face. As this operation is performed on the existing nose, the existing nose also affects the success of operation. This means to say that thickness of your skin, thinness and form of existing cartilages, your wound healing process and past nose surgeries determine the rate of success of rhinoplasty. The purpose is not to make a nose unfit and unrelated to your face. Therefore, creation of the prettiest nose alone does not resolve your problems. The most successful result is accepted as the most appropriate and fit nose for your face. For this reason, it is wrong to demand a nose giving the nose of another person as an example. If a nose where nares are not seen much and alive bone structure is not lost and which does not seem operated is produced, and if you are breathing better than the preoperative situation, the operation is deemed successful.

Nose aesthetic operations are the most common aesthetic operations on the world. Period of operation does not exceed 2 hours. Postoperative bruises and tubercles have been reduced to a large extent as regards the past surgical techniques. You wake up with a special sponge in your nose which does not prevent your breathing, and with a tiny plaster surrounding the nose. Postoperative period is not painful, unlike general fears. You will be fairly unconstrained in this period by using simple analgesics. Two days after, your nose will be released, and your breathing will turn to normal.

Otoplasty

Otoplasty is a surgical operation aimed at correcting the appearance of auricles (earlaps). In otoplasty surgery, not only overly evident earlaps, generally called by the public as prominent ears, may be corrected, but also earlaps and earlobes which are undeveloped or have a bad appearance due to congenital or traumatic reasons may be reshaped. Prominent ears may cause social and spiritual disturbances particularly in childhood. As they grow up, children enter into social environments such as daycare centers, nursery schools and schools and may be exposed to heavy and merciless reactions and criticism due to appearance of their earlaps. It may cause becoming an object of derision and social exclusion in a circle of friends, and problems in self-confidence and development of personality. It may further lead to communication disorders, failure in school and reduction in self-confidence. Therefore, in general, it is accepted that the best time for otoplasty operations is preschool age. Adults may also need otoplasty surgery in order to get rid of such an appearance which may be perceived as a disadvantage in social environments, and to tie back their hair above ears, or have their hair cut short.

Generally, postoperative pain is not severe. Only a slight pain controllable by analgesics is expected. For one week both in daytime and at night, a head band is used, and during the subsequent several weeks, head band is asked to be used only at nights. Children may restart school one week after the operation, and adults may return to work earlier.

Botox Application

Botox is a toxin obtained from Botolismus bacterium, which prevents nerve to stimulate the muscle. In medicine, it is generally used to prevent involuntary muscle contractions. It is applied successfully and gives good results in aesthetic surgery as well.

The most important role in facial wrinkles is played by mimic muscles as they are used in each affection and facial expression. Particularly at the early stage when tissue prolapses have not start yet, only wrinkles are visible upon active use of mimic muscles. Application of Botox at this stage temporarily paralyzes mimic muscles, thereby correcting or preventing wrinkles.

It is applied after an anesthetic cream applied on face. As it is applied by a very thin needle, its pain is fairly low.

After application, some tiny bruises and tubercles which are visible only from a very close distance may be seen at the injection sites, but they fully recover and disappear in 1 or 2 days.
